Paris, 16th January 2006 - Arkema Forane? R134a Refrigerant: price increase and strong demand, in Europe and Asia. Arkema has announced that volumes of its hydrofluorocarbon refrigerant Forane? R134a grew significantly in 2005, and now anticipates record demand for this product in 2006. Most new volume in the refrigerant business is coming from growth in automotive and air-conditioning.

Although 2005 price adjustments helped the Company to partly offset rising costs, Arkema is experiencing continuing strong pressure from raw material, energy and transportation costs whilst facing historically high demand. As a result, Arkema is implementing a new price increase of 11% in Europe and Asia. This price increase is being implemented in Q1 2006.

Arkema has been one of the world leaders in fluorochemicals for over 50 years, serving the automotive, air-conditioning, refrigeration, foam and pharmaceutical industries.
