Blown Compressor Fuse on 1998 and Later Chevrolet S-10

Last Updated: August 29, 2006 Views: 444

Some 1998 and later four cylinder (2.2L) equipped S-10 models may experience no power to compressor caused by a blown compressor fuse.

Before condemning the compressor clutch coil, carefully check the compressor clutch feed harness that runs along the valve cover.  Many times, this harness will become pinched between the air intake and another component.  Damaged feed wires can be the source of a constant or intermittent short which may blow the 10 amp compressor fuse.

You'll find a clamping diode approximately 8 inches from the coil.  Do not eliminate this diode from the circuit when making permanent repair.
