Subject:    volvo conversion or not

Year: 1989
Make: volvo
Model: 240

Refrigerant: R12 or R134

Howdy, defective hose replaced, new drier, and expansion valve on order for the old Volvo. I've throurghly flushed the evaporator and condenser and will use new HBNR o-rings at all conections. I worked for an hour to remove the small compressor drain plug and got maybe two teaspoons of mineral oil. Question: Can anybody advise which oil to use if I (1)go back with R-12 or (2) convert to 134A? And if there are any other concerns with the residual mineral oil that may remain in the compressor? I don't want to remove the compressor if it can be avoided. I appreciate this board and all the good info.
Thanks.
